Jakob Nielsen, Ph.D., is a User Advocate and principal of the Nielsen Norman Group which he
co-founded with Dr. Donald A. Norman
(former VP of research at Apple Computer). Until 1998 he was a
Sun Microsystems Distinguished Engineer.
Dr. Nielsen founded the "discount usability
engineering" movement for fast and cheap improvements of
user interfaces and has invented several usability methods,
including heuristic evaluation. He holds 59 United States
patents, mainly on ways of making the Internet easier to use.

sulle interfacce umane. Norman ha avuto una carriera lunga ed
eminente. E' stato capo del dipartimento di psicologia alla università di
California, San Diego (UCSD) e fondatore del dipartimento dei scienze
cognitive alla stessa università.
E' stato uno del fondatori della Società di Scienza Cognitiva ed è un
membro di numerose società scientifiche, che include l'Accademia
Americana delle arti e delle scienze. Norman è laureato al MIT ed ha un
Masters presso l'Università di Pennsylvania in ingegneria elettrotecnica.
Ha ottenuto inoltre un Ph. D. in psicologia presso l'Università di
Pennsylvania. Nel 1995, ha ricevuto un Ph. D. onorario in psicologia
dalla università di Padova.
Sul tema delle interfaccie umane Norman ha pubblicato numerosi saggi,
con traduzioni in 12 lingue, tra essi: "User Centered System Design",
"The Psychology of Everyday Things", e più recentemente "Turn Signals
Are the Facial Expressions of Automobiles" e "Things that Make Us

Bruce "Tog" Tognazzini is a principal with the Nielsen Norman Group, the "dream team"
design firm specializing in human-computer interaction.
Tog was lead designer at WebMD, the super-vertical start-up founded in February, 1996
by Jim Clark, founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape.
Before that, Tog was Distinguished Engineer for Strategic Technology at Sun.
During his 14 years at Apple Computer, he founded the Apple Human Interface Group and
acted as Apple's Human Interface Evangelist.
Tog has published two books, Tog On Interface and Tog On Software Design, both from
Addison Wesley, and is currently publishing the free webzine, "AskTog."
